Jewellery Care

All Simon Pure jewellery is made with a great amount of care and attention. We want it to stay looking great and for you to enjoy it for as long as you can.

If you’re taking part in an activity which might damage your jewellery, do please take it off and put it somewhere safe.

Some jewellery items need a little extra care (like pearls for example- see below). Likewise, some jewellery finishes are only skin deep and will be affected by chemical reactions in every day life. However, we know that with the right information, you can make the best choice for you and your jewellery.

And remember, if something does happen, we have the expertise and knowledge to help put it right. Get in touch with us if you have any concerns.

Below are our top tips for keeping your jewellery safe and in the best possible condition:

  1. Tuck chains and necklaces away in their boxes when you’re not wearing them. This will help prevent knotting, catching, stretching or breaking.

  2. Some everyday cosmetics and perfumes contain chemicals which could react with your jewellery. It’s always best to put your jewellery on after applying these to avoid any potential damage.

  3. Chlorinated / salted water can react with some metals found in jewellery, so as a result it’s best to remove jewellery before swimming or visiting a spa.

  4. Diamond rings. We recommend you visit us within the first six months of wearing you new Simon Pure diamond rings. We can then have a quick check of the setting and look over all of the components of your ring to make sure everything is secure and safe. Come back on an annual basis for a check up.

  5. If you have coloured gem stones which are looking a little lack lustre, you can give them a very gentle clean. Dip them in lukewarm soapy water (use standard washing up liquid) and wash gently with a soft toothbrush. Make sure you rinse carefully with clean water and dry thoroughly with a soft, lint-free cloth.

  6. Pearls & Opals should only be cleaned with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.

All jewellery will experience a certain amount of wear during daily activities. Textured finishes will begin to polish up and polished finishes will often matt down. With time, both will reach an equilibrium.

Finishes such as Rhodium plating on 18 Carat White Gold will eventually wear off and expose the dull metal colour underneath. This is totally normal, and for a small charge, can be re-plated at our workshop.

Mostly, we want you to wear your jewellery and love it. If you have any other questions, get in touch with us here.
